A resident of the American city of Bono, Arkansas, won $1 million, or about 75 million rubles, thanks to an oversight by a supermarket cashier, according to the official website of the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery.
Along with food items, the woman bought several lottery tickets at the supermarket. Each one was worth no more than $10, but the cashier accidentally sold her a ticket for $20, which was the winning ticket.
The woman decided to check the tickets immediately, in her own car. After wiping off the protective layer and seeing the one under the number 12 (the winning number), she thought she might have won $100. Afterward, the woman turned her attention to the letter “M,” wiped her eyes several times and cried.
The winner and her husband will spend part of their winnings to pay off loans they took out to buy a house and cars. However, the main amount of the prize the couple plans to set aside for retirement.
Earlier, a lucky man from Michigan won a billion dollars in the lottery. Lucky contestant got the only ticket in which all six numbers matched.
