A 107-year-old Minnesota resident recently beat the coronavirus, according to officials at Ecumen Detroit Lakes nursing home, where she has lived since 2015.
This is not the first pandemic Dybing has survived. Born in 1913, she was almost 5 years old when a flu pandemic struck her family farm in North Dakota in 1918. “My folks got sick and they were in bed and I was running on the bed and my dad asked if I could find another place to run,” she said.
Throughout her life, Daibing has experienced many losses, including the deaths of several siblings as an infant and her husband, who was 80. She also survived uterine cancer at age 95.
The only symptom of the coronavirus, Dybing said, was fatigue. Nursing home staff said she didn’t have a fever or cough; she just slept all the time.
