A chemical plant exploded in West Virginia

Residents of West Virginia within two miles of the chemical plant in Bell were ordered to take refuge after the explosion on Tuesday night.

According to the Kanawa County Commission, the explosion occurred at the Chemours plant at about 22:00. The company that owns the plant later claimed that the fire was localized. Two people were injured, but details of the injuries were not disclosed, commission president Kent Carper said.

“There was a fire in one of the tenant companies on our site in Bella, West Virginia. The elimination of the fire on site is a success,” Chemours representatives said.

Video from the air, posted on social networks, captured images of a burning fire. Governor Jim Justice wrote on Twitter that he is monitoring the situation.
