Doha Doha Giant Pandas from the Sichuan Province of China that is the home of Giant Pandas, will soon arrive in Doha.
The pandas are a present to China to Qatar in celebration of this year’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 which will be held in Qatar from November 20 through December 18, said that the Chinese Ambassador to Qatar, Zhou Jian.
The Ambassador announced this news at a reception that was held in Doha to mark the 73rd anniversary of establishment of the People’s Republic of China. “This is a present given to the 1.4 billion Chinese people to celebrate to the Qatar World Cup, and is sure to become a new symbol of friendship between China and Qatar,” said the envoy.
The ambassador announced they were hoping that two pandas named “Suhail” and “Thuraya’ will be brought to the country in the month of October. Suhail refers to the name given to one of the most brilliant star clusters visible within the Gulf region. Thuraya can be the Arabic name of that of the Pleiades Star Cluster.
A representative from the embassy told The Peninsula, that they will be settling at Al Khor Park and further information on the date of their arrival, as well as other details The related departments in China are discussing the matter their plans with Parks Department of the Ministry of Municipal Qatar.
