A mysterious mechanism discovered in soil samples from the asteroid Ryugu

Among the samples collected and delivered to Earth by Japanese probes from the asteroid Ryugu, researchers have discovered a mysterious unidentified object.

Researchers speculate that a piece of a mechanism of unknown origin was found in the samples collected by the Hayabusa-2 probe. The announcement was published on the mission’s Twitter page.

“We have not yet confirmed the origin of the artificial object. It may be aluminium that has detached from the sampler horn,” the researchers said.

According to scientists, probe chambers B and C were opened, then the contents of chambers A and C were transferred to special containers
