A work of art was found in an airport rubbish bin in a German city
Picture which cost more than 250 thousand euros was found in a trash bin at Dusseldorf airport.
Surrealist painting by French artist Yves Tanguy, apparently, was inadvertently forgotten at the airport by a businessman, who was traveling to Israel on November 27.
The owner had forgotten a precious work of art worth 280,000 euros at the check-in desk when he boarded a flight to Tel Aviv.
By the time he landed in Israel and contacted German police, the painting, which was wrapped in cardboard, was gone.
A police spokesman said authorities were at first unable to find the artwork, but after the businessman’s nephew arrived at the airport and contacted law enforcement directly, an inspector eventually found the painting in one of the airport’s rubbish bins.
Yves Tanguy is a French surrealist painter. His main subject matter is bizarre hallucinatory landscapes.
