An American female police officer accidentally ran over a man who was resting in Florida during a coronavirus pandemic, the New York Post reported. The incident occurred on one of the beaches in Indian Shore. William Cosiarz, a 66-year-old retiree from Michigan, was sunbathing in the sand and a 27-year-old law enforcement officer accidentally ran over him while patrolling the area.

The man was immediately taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. The police officer was not injured in the incident. The authorities continue to investigate the details of the incident.

According to the Daily Mail, some Florida beaches began gradually opening up to the public in mid-April, despite the active spread of the coronavirus throughout the country. Dozens of vacationers immediately flooded popular resorts, and some activists began to oppose the weakening of quarantine measures in the United States.
