A scandal in Sweden over fake COVID tests breaks out

A private medical foundation in a Stockholm suburb has been caught up in a scandal over fake COVID-19 coronavirus tests.

According to Euractiv, police searched several premises after receiving reports that some 100,000 citizens may have received false test results.

In particular, the Doktorgruppen Medical Foundation was caught in the scandal. Supposedly, those who were infected with the coronavirus continued to spread the infection after taking the test. The tests and certificates cost about 167 euros.

According to preliminary reports, the suspects, who included a 33-year-old medic, may have earned about 10 million euros from the fake tests.
