The New York Post reports that the incident occurred on Wednesday, June 10th. The victim was a 26-year-old woman who, according to local police, tried to pick up clothes from a metal container located behind the tavern. Unfortunately, her head and arm were stuck inside.
When the owner found an unconscious woman stuck in a container, he called the police. “The victim used a chair to get into a clothes container and pick up clothes, somehow lost her balance and was trapped inside a metal box,” said Atlanta police captain F. Turner.
“The door is spring loaded and made of very, very heavy metal.” The work of four firefighters was needed in order to free the woman’s body from the trap. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the woman lived in the area where the incident occurred.
Her identity is hidden until her relatives are notified. “If people need any clothes or help, we have the Salvation Army, United Way,” Turner said. “There are many services that are provided less fortunate, instead of taking such measures.”
