Thomas Jefferson Byrd, the main actor in the Spike Lee films, was shot dead in Atlanta.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, on Saturday, Georgia state police called in to the Atlanta residence and found the actor dead. He was found with “multiple gunshot wounds to the back.”
The investigation into Byrd’s murder is currently ongoing. According to Entertainment Weekly, the actor was 70 years old.
He can be seen not only in Spike Lee’s films, but also in the Netflix TV series “Set Up”, “She Needs It Desperately,” “Ray,” and the films “Pushers”, “Get on the Bus,” “Chirac” and many others. In 2004, Byrd was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor on the Broadway show Black Bottom.
