After Launch From Vandenberg SFB Firefly Rocket Reaches It’s Orbit

Vandenberg Space Force Base was the launch pad for the Firefly rocket that took off Saturday morning.

Although the Alpha rocket was initially scheduled to launch on Sept. 11, it was canceled due to a decrease in rocket’s helium pressure.

Firefly announced that the rocket was in orbit after multiple unsuccessful attempts.

This is the second Vandenberg launch for the aerospace company.

Firefly’s initial rocket burst shortly after takeoff in September 2011, scattering debris along the Central Coast.

According to the company, the rocket experienced an anomaly on its first stage ascent.

People in Lompoc were unable to hear the rocket’s latest launch because of fog conditions.
