The update of iOS has improved the quality of video calls on the iPhone.
Journalists of the publication noticed that in November Apple has updated the pages of some models of smartphones on its website. The company added information to the description of new and some old devices that they support video transmission via FaceTime at a resolution of 1080 pixels. For iPhone 12, this resolution is set when using Wi-Fi and 5G, for other devices – only Wi-Fi.
Judging by the description, the new feature is available on all Apple smartphones, starting with the iPhone 8, released in 2017. Journalists have noticed that, in particular, on the page of the iPhone XR this information was not displayed until November 4, and then appeared. The authors believe that support for a resolution of 1080 pixels became available on Apple devices with the update iOS 14.2.
The note says that the changes in video transmission quality are “very significant”. The updated application for video communications FaceTime is available only on iPhone, the iPad has retained the same resolution.
Earlier Apple has added new features to Russian users’ watches – ECG and notifications of irregular heart rate – through an update. To activate them, you need to update Apple Watch to watchOS 7.1 and install iOS 14.2 update on your iPhone.
