Apple plans to build a solar energy storage facility

U.S. company Apple plans to begin construction of a renewable solar energy storage facility near California.

The site is planned to open on the California Flats Solar Farm. Apple plans to get 240 MWh of energy from the store, which is enough for uninterrupted power supply of 7 thousand houses. Approximately 130 MW of this volume will be used for the corporation’s needs.

The batteries of the storage facility, which is one of the largest energy storage systems in the United States, will be powered by solar panels. The energy will be stored using 85 Tesla Megapack lithium-ion battery packs, which will avoid power outages due to weather variability.
