Amid allegations of rape and sexual misconduct, Hollywood actor Armie Hammer has reportedly gone into rehab.
According to Vanity Fair, the actor left the Cayman Islands, where he stayed most of the time during the pandemic. The publication’s sources note that he checked himself into a “residential treatment facility for drug, alcohol and sexual dysfunction” on May 31.
“Everyone looks at Armie thinking he had some kind of privileged life — and that must mean he had no problems in his youth and everything was very rosy. But that’s not necessarily true. Just because you grew up with an abundance of financial resources doesn’t mean you don’t have problems in your life,” a close friend of Hammer’s told Vanity Fair.
While Hammer does have a wild family history, he recently made headlines because of allegations of physical and psychological abuse made against him by some of his past partners. Earlier this year, graphic messages attributed to Hammer were leaked online detailing fantasies of violent sexual scenarios, including rape and cannibalism. The actor’s girlfriends Paige Lorenze and Courtney Vucekovic later accused him of coercion and violence. In March, a woman who identified herself as Effie claimed the actor brutally raped her for four hours.
Hammer denies all of the allegations. However, the allegations caused him to be fired from all projects. Insiders say that Hammer has trauma from his past and continues to struggle with substance abuse.
