Sources told CNN that at least five people from Vice President Mike Pence’s team have tested positive for the coronavirus in recent days, including White House chief of staff Mark Short, close aide Zach Bauer and outside adviser Marty.
There are fears that more people from Pence’s inner circle may become ill in the coming days, the source said. “People are scared,” an insider says of the VP’s office staff.
Vice President Mike Pence and Second Lady Karen Pence tested negative for coronavirus on Sunday, a White House spokesman said. Despite contact with several people who have recently tested positive, Mike Pence refuses to go into quarantine in violation of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
Bauer, one of the sick employees, is Pence’s bodyguard, meaning his job is to accompany him throughout the day and night in the immediate vicinity. Bauer tested positive on Saturday and remains isolated now.
