No sooner had we come away from the news of Kanye West and Irina Shayk’s secret affair, than the rapper made himself talked about again. This time he found himself at the center of the scandal because of counterfeit shoes of his own brand Yeezy.
A large chain of Walmart stores, according to the artist, sells replicas of his sneakers at lower prices. Kanye is suing the retail giant for this. In a statement, the musician said that the sale of counterfeits brings financial losses and negatively affects the company’s brand. Such shoes are almost impossible to distinguish from the real one, and they are much worse to wear. The appeal cites the complaints of dissatisfied customers about the quality of the sneakers, as they quickly wear out and uncomfortable to wear.
West’s lawyers have contacted Walmart to get them to remove the collection from their website, but the company has refused to do so and is ready to defend their good name in court: “The product mentioned in the complaint is not sold by Walmart, but by third-party Marketplace sellers. We take allegations like this seriously and are looking into it. We will respond in court as appropriate after we are served with the complaint,” Walmart said.
