Baltic states called for sanctions against Russia in connection with Navalny's detention

The foreign ministers of the Baltic states called for sanctions against Russia in connection with the detention of Navalny. Latvian, Lithuanian, and Estonian foreign ministries published the text of the statement on their Twitter microblogs by Latvian Foreign Minister Edars Rinkevics.

“The detention of Alexei Navalny is absolutely unacceptable. We demand that the Russian authorities release him immediately. The European Union must react quickly; if he is not released, we must consider imposing sanctions against Russia in connection with this action,” the statement said.
