Beijing authorities decided to temporarily close the city due to a repeated outbreak of coronavirus infection. This was told by the deputy chairman of the committee on transport of the city government, Rong Jun, reports TASS.

Starting June 19, all passenger traffic with other regions of China will be suspended. Those who have already bought tickets for these dates will be able to return the money.

Rong Jun explained that passenger flows were already “significantly reduced” after the Beijing authorities began to introduce measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Earlier in China, it was reported that the risk of a new epidemic of infection in the country is very high. In addition, the number of infected people in Beijing does not stop. It is noted that the new outbreak resembles the situation in Wuhan in January.

On June 15, it became known that the new coronavirus, found on the Xinfadi wholesale market in Beijing, may be more contagious than in Wuhan. The market manager said that SARS-CoV-2 was found on a cutting board used to chop imported salmon. As it turned out later, the infected fish was brought from the closed Jingshen seafood market, which previously recorded a new outbreak of coronavirus.
