Biden honors police officer killed in storming of Congress

Brian Siknick will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery

U.S. President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, on Tuesday night honored Brian Siknick, the Capitol Police officer who died defending the Capitol from a mob of Trump supporters who stormed the building in January.

A little earlier, an urn containing Siknick’s ashes was brought to the Capitol.

Dozens of Capitol police officers stood at attention as they watched it lifted up the steps and set up in the rotunda for the farewell.

Police officers were given the opportunity to participate in the night’s farewell.

Congressional leaders took part in a ceremony to welcome the urn.

Lawmakers will pay their respects to Siknick at a ceremony Wednesday morning, after which his ashes will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
