Biden points to systemic racism in the US

Former US Vice President Joe Biden said that systemic racism in the United States has been around for over 200 years. The politician made such a statement in a video message on the occasion of US Independence Day, which was published on his Twitter.

Biden said that the principle of equality was never fully implemented in the country.

According to him, the idea of the equality of all people survived “200 years of systemic racism in the United States.”

“American history is not a fairy tale,” Biden said.

He notes that in the USA there has always been a struggle between the “idea that everyone is created equal” and the “racism” that “divides” the Americans.

Massive anti-racist protests and statements take place in Western countries after the death of African-American George Floyd, who was detained on May 25 by police in Minneapolis. During the arrest, the policeman knelt on the man’s neck. Floyd screamed that he was choking, but law enforcement officers did not pay attention to it. As a result, the man died in intensive care.
