Biden puts schoolteacher as US education secretary

The US president-elect has decided that the education system in America will now be run by a Connecticut teacher.

Joe Biden chose a veteran teacher and school administrator to be the US Secretary of Education. The teacher himself is from Connecticut and his name is Miguel Cardon.

Note that Miguel Cardon, 45, was a simple primary schools teacher at the beginning of his career.

Biden was due to introduce the new Education Secretary back on Wednesday, at an event in Wilmington, Delaware, but so far he has not done so.

Should Miguel Cardon receive his confirmation as Secretary of Education by the Senate, he has promised to help Biden’s team make things happen. That is, to ensure that children of all races, sexual orientations, gender identities, or disabilities – regardless of how much income their parents have – receive a quality education.

Also, Biden, while announcing his plans on the campaign trail, said he would ensure that 3- and 4-year-olds have access to free pre-school tuition and added that he has a plan to raise salaries for teachers.
