Biden reveals details of cyberattacks attributed to Russia on U.S. authorities

U.S. President-elect Joe Biden revealed details of cyberattacks attributed to Russia on U.S. authorities. He said this at a press conference in Wilmington, Delaware.

According to Biden, hackers managed to steal important information from American businesses and authorities.

“This attack was carefully planned and executed… Those who carried out the attack managed to take the federal authorities by surprise when they were not prepared,” he added. The Democrat stressed that the hackers had stolen important information from the technology sector, from private businesses and from U.S. government agencies. He also recalled the position of representatives of the current administration, according to which Russia was allegedly involved in the attack.

The attacks, which were attributed to Russian hackers, first became known on December 14. It was alleged that they allegedly attacked the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and gained access to internal communications at the agency. The attack was part of a campaign that also hacked the systems of the U.S. Treasury Department and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. Moscow denies the allegations and considers them baseless.
