Biden warned of “potentially catastrophic situation” in the US

Democrat Joe Biden, who has collected the required minimum to win the US presidential election, will face a crisis after taking office in January. This was warned by the Financial Times, citing health experts.

They believe the number of COVID-19 cases in the country will skyrocket. In their opinion, Biden “will inherit a potentially catastrophic situation”: a strong growth of infected and a population that does not trust medical advice.

Former head of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Tom Frieden, noted that the virus has already gone out of control in many parts of the country, and this is “an ideal scenario for its further spread.”

At the same time, virologist from Columbia University Angela Rasmussen, noted that over the past four months, US residents have felt constant manipulation due to the coronavirus and in order to convince Americans of the honesty of the authorities, “it will take a huge effort.”

Earlier it became known that Biden decided to introduce mandatory wearing of masks throughout the country. In the coming days, the politician intends to call governors and mayors of large cities from both parties to induce them to introduce a mandatory mask regime.

The United States remains among the world’s leaders in the number of detected cases of coronavirus infection. According to Johns Hopkins University, 9.9 million people have been infected in the country since the beginning of the pandemic, and more than 237,000 cases have died.
