Biden's advisor contracted COVID-19

Cedric Richmond, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Louisiana, whom U.S. President-elect Joseph Biden plans to appoint as his senior advisor, has contracted a coronavirus.

This is reported by officials of Biden’s transition team.

The congressman has reportedly “not been directly around Biden recently.” The statement specifies that the congressman attended a rally in Georgia that Biden also attended. They spoke for less than 15 minutes outdoors, both wearing masks.

According to a spokesman for the transition team, the U.S. president-elect was also tested on Thursday for coronavirus infection. Biden was not infected.

Biden has said he intends to appoint Richmond as his senior adviser. The congressman also served on the committee that is organizing the president-elect’s inauguration.
