Black deputy Pompeo outraged by Trump's position and resigned

Assistant Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for Legislation, Mary Elizabeth Taylor, defiantly resigned, showing outrage at President Donald Trump’s reaction to mass protests against racism. It is reported by The Daily Mail.

It is noted that 30-year-old Taylor wrote a letter to Pompeo. It states that the president’s position on racial injustice is in sharp contrast to its core values. She decided to follow a voice of conscience and resign as deputy secretary. The African American thanked everyone for respecting her opinion.

Taylor was the first black in history to have served as Under Secretary of State for Legislation since October 2018.

Since the end of May, mass protests have been held in dozens of US cities, accompanied by riots and clashes with police over the death of African-American George Floyd. In some states, they grew into riots with pogroms, robberies, shooting and arson. Trump then wrote a warning post on his Twitter post “When the robbery begins, the shooting starts,” which outraged many protesters.
