Dozens of Brazilians came out in at least 200 cities in all states. It turns out that residents are unhappy with how President Jair Bolsonaro is dealing with the crisis caused by the pandemic.
Protesters demanded the purchase of a COVID-19 vaccine, emergency aid for the sick and the return of a social support program. Some posters called for the impeachment of the president. The rallies were peaceful in most cities, except Recife in the northeast of the country, where police used tear gas and rubber bullets.
Brazil has the second highest number of coronavirus deaths in the world (461,000) and the third highest number of cases of infection (16.5 million).
