Cases of infection with Indian strain of coronavirus COVID-19, called by the World Health Organization as Delta, were recorded in Britain.
This was announced by the Minister of Health of the United Kingdom Matt Hancock.
He warned that the spread of Delta puts Britain’s exit from lockdown, scheduled for June 21, at risk. Hancock recalled that the Indian strain is 40 percent more contagious than Alpha British.
“Because of the new Delta variant, dealing with the coronavirus will be more difficult. We believe that with two doses of the vaccine, you get the same protection as the old variant,” Hancock said.
