Joseph Flaville was in a car accident last March when he was hit by a car. After a head injury, he slipped into a coma. Ten months later, the boy regained consciousness, but he was alone in his room, and none of his relatives came.
The boy’s mother and aunt told The Guardian that Joseph caught the coronavirus twice while recovering from the accident, and recovered both times. His mother was able to visit her son on his 19th birthday in December, but she had to man her PPE and stay away, so the woman doesn’t even know if her son realized who was visiting him.
Joseph has tried to explain the extent of the pandemic and the demands of restrictive measures via video link, but doesn’t know if he understood them. The teenager was transferred to another clinic for rehabilitation. He is able to touch his left and right ear, move both feet and answer “yes” and “no,” blink and smile a little.
In January it was reported that an Australian student woke up after seven months in a coma and was immediately charged with murder. Last June, the young man fell from the balcony of his fourth-floor apartment. The day after his fall, law enforcement found the body of a 19-year-old girl in his apartment.
