In Spain, a businesswoman has been sent to prison for six months and ordered to pay a fine of 3.6 thousand euros for installing unlicensed Windows in the office.

The businesswoman, whose name is not disclosed, back in 2017 decided to install on the computers in her office illegal versions of OC Windows, as well as programs from the Microsoft Office package.

Somehow, information about the illegal use of the software reached the police. The police conducted searches and found pirated software on the computers.

The businesswoman twice tried to appeal the court decision, but she failed. The woman’s case gained publicity because it was the first of its kind in Spain. The businesswoman not only installed pirated software, but also violated a new article of the country’s Criminal Code, which prohibits the commercial use of unlicensed products.
