A group of Canadian scientists believe that some types of cannabis can help prevent and treat coronavirus.
Researchers at the University of Lethbridge say that at least 13 cannabis plants with a high content of the active ingredient BDB affect the pathways of infection of COVID-19, and how the virus affects the body.
“At first, we were simply stunned, but then we realized that this could be the solution,” says co-author Olga Kovalchuk. Hemp extracts with a high content of BDB block proteins that help the coronavirus to bind to human cells.
The results have been published in the Preprints edition.
