Canada equated the Russian Imperial Movement with terrorists

Canada equated the far-right group Russian Imperial Movement with terrorists. In addition, several other radical organizations were included in the expanded list of terrorist movements that was published on the website of the country’s government publication: The Proud Boys, Atomwaffen Division.

In addition to the above-mentioned movements, the list also included structural divisions of the Islamist terrorist groups Islamic State (IS) and Al-Qaeda (both banned in Russia). According to GlobalNews, the inclusion of the Russian Imperial Movement in the list of terrorists is explained by the fact that its military wing has been linked to the conflicts in Ukraine, Libya and Syria.

In April 2020, the U.S. listed the monarchist association as a terrorist group. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the movement was training neo-Nazis and supporters of white supremacy in Europe, and was trying to rally such groups to fight those they called their enemies.

The Russian Imperial Movement is currently unrecognized and banned in Russia and is mentioned in the federal list of extremist materials.
