Canadian government appreciates US decision to abolish aluminum duties

Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Development and International Trade of Canada, during a press conference in Ottawa, spoke about the government’s opinion on the US decision to abolish previously imposed duties on aluminum.

In early August, US President Donald Trump announced that from August 16, the United States will impose customs duties on aluminum imports from Canada at a rate of 10%.

In mid-August, the country’s authorities announced that they would close the border with the United States until the end of September due to the pandemic and the epidemiological situation. But Canadian media reported that the restrictions will not be lifted until November.
