China hopes to change relations with US after Trump leaves

China hopes that the United States will change its attitude towards China after the change of the current administration. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said this in an interview with Asharq Al-Awst, NSN reports.

In the crisis in relations between the two countries, Wang Yi blames incumbent President Donald Trump as guilty. He, according to the minister, refused to recognize Beijing’s right to development.

“The main reason for the serious difficulties facing Sino-US relations is that some politicians in the United States view relations between the two countries in terms of a zero-sum mentality and Cold War ideas. They do not want to recognize and respect China’s right to development, and also do not want to see the success of a country with a rapidly developing economy, “said Wang Yi.

Such one-sided and aggressive thinking violates the basic norms of international relations and the rules of fair market competition, the head of Chinese diplomacy added.

Wang Yi expressed the hope that the United States will return to rationality, treat the development of China and other countries with actively developing economies objectively and fairly, move towards China, and promote the early return of Sino-American relations to the path of “healthy and stable development.”

The Chinese Foreign Minister said that one-sided and aggressive thinking violates the basic norms of international relations. He added that he looked forward to returning US-China relations to a path of “healthy and stable development.”

Earlier, foreign ministers of five countries, including the United States, called on China to change its policy towards Hong Kong and preserve its independence. They accused the PRC authorities of disqualifying opposition politicians from the city’s legislative assembly.
