Beijing is ready to join the trilateral talks if the US reduces its nuclear arsenal to the level of China, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said
China will be “happy” to join the arms talks between Russia and the United States if Washington fulfills Beijing’s condition. This was stated by the head of the Department of Arms Control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Phu Tsun, reports Reuters.
According to him, the United States needs to reduce its nuclear arsenals to the level that China has at its disposal.
Washington invited Beijing to take part in the arms control talks between Russia and the United States on June 22 in Vienna. The delegations were headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and Special Representative of the US President Marshall Billingsley. Washington positively assessed the bilateral consultations and reported that they had reached an agreement on the second round with Moscow.
