China will retaliate against US due to Hong Kong law

Earlier, Donald Trump signed a law imposing restrictions on companies and individuals involved in the development and adoption of the law on ensuring national security in Hong Kong

China intends to impose retaliatory sanctions against the United States after U.S. leader Donald Trump signed a decree on measures to put pressure on Beijing in connection with the situation in Hong Kong. This was reported by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hua Chuning, reports Reuters.

“We urge the US side to immediately reverse the decision and stop making any statements and commit acts that are detrimental to the interests of China. The Chinese side will react further in accordance with the development of the situation, ”said the representative of the department.

In addition, she called Washington’s actions a gross interference in Hong Kong and China’s internal affairs.

On July 14, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had signed a law on sanctions against China in connection with the situation in Hong Kong, an executive decree on the abolition of US economic and trade preferences for this special administrative region of the PRC, as well as a decree depriving the special administrative region of special status.

As Trump noted, this law will become a “new powerful tool” in order to hold accountable those who participated in the destruction of freedoms in Hong Kong. It involves the introduction of restrictions on companies and individuals involved in the development and adoption of the law on ensuring national security in Hong Kong.

On June 30, a national security law passed by the Chinese authorities entered into force in Hong Kong. This law is aimed at preventing separatism, terrorism, undermining state power and conspiracy with foreign forces. For violation of the law, life imprisonment is provided as a capital punishment.
