China: Wuhan Laboratory Deserves Nobel Prize

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said that the Wuhan laboratory, which studies viruses, deserves to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine for its role in coronavirus research.

Lijian thus responded to accusations that the Wuhan lab was responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic because it created and propagated the virus itself, or because leaks from the lab led to the pandemic.

“If those who first publish high-quality viral research are blamed for creating the virus, then Professor Luc Montagnier, who first discovered the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), will be considered responsible for AIDS, not awarded the Nobel Prize, and Mr. Louis Pasteur, who discovered microbes, will be responsible for pathogenic bacteria worldwide,” said a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman.

Zhao Lijian continued: “By this analogy, the team from Wuhan should be awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for their research on SOVID-19, not criticized.”

This statement was made after the Wuhan laboratory was listed as a candidate for the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Award for Excellence in Science and Technology.
