China’s Sinovac vaccine approved by WHO

China’s Sinovac coronavirus vaccine has been approved by the World Health Organization for emergency use worldwide.

“WHO today approved the Sinovac-CoronaVac vaccine for emergency use against COVID-19, providing assurances to countries, foundations, procurement agencies and communities that it meets international standards for safety, efficacy and production,” according to a press release from WHO headquarters in Geneva.

The vaccine is produced by Sinovac, a pharmaceutical company based in Beijing.
