Chris Godwin, Julio Jones Return Chiefs-Bucs Inactive

In Week Four, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers decided that tackle Donovan Smith and wide receivers Chris Godwin (and Julio Jones) would be game-day choices against the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s good news for all Buccaneers. After each of their injuries, Godwin, Jones, and Smith were unable to play in the two previous Super Bowl LV games at Raymond James Stadium.

After a one-game suspension Mike Evans, wide receiver, returns to the Buccaneers. This gives quarterback Tom Brady more pass-catchers after a slow start. The Buccaneers kept Russell Gage and Jaelon Darden, as well as Cole Beasley, active. Beasley was promoted to the practice squad Saturday. Breshad Perriman (wide receiver) was inactive due to knee and hamstring injuries. Scotty Miller was also declared inactive.

Smith is back after missing consecutive games in his eight-year professional career. This was due to an elbow injury he sustained at Dallas’ season opener. Brandon Walton, a first-year player, made his debut against the Packers in Week 3. Smith will be returning to left tackle, with Smith taking over as the reserve.

At 6:50 p.m., the Chiefs and Buccaneers submitted their inactives list. ET on Sunday, just 90 minutes before their Week Four prime time matchup. Beasley was promoted by the Buccaneers from their practice squad on Saturday. They now have a 54-man roster. They had to identify six inactives to reach the 48-man active game limit. Two players from the practice team were elevated by the Chiefs – Elijah Lee, linebacker, and kicker Matthew Wright. They had to name seven actives Sunday night.
