CNN star Christiane Amanpour has been diagnosed with cancer

Famous CNN anchor Christiane Amanpour told viewers that she has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

“I had successful major surgery to remove it, and now I’m undergoing chemotherapy for the best long-term prognosis,” said Amanpour, 63, who has been off the air for the past four weeks.

Christiane Amanpour emphasized in her address that ovarian cancer is a common disease that affects millions of women worldwide. She said she wanted to encourage women to get tested and listen to their bodies.

The famous anchorwoman also thanked her colleagues, in particular Bianna Golodryga, who replaced her on air. For his part, CNN Worldwide President Jeff Zucker wished Amanpour a full recovery.
