A simulation of the coronavirus epidemic previously referenced by the White House now predicts that more than 200,000 Americans may die from COVID-19 by October 1.

The revised forecast by the Institute of Health Indicators and Assessment at the University of Washington provides a new estimate of the potential number of coronavirus victims – 30,000 more than last week. The Institute also predicts an increase in the number of hospitalizations and patients who need ventilators.

The number of new infections has reached record levels in parts of America after quarantine measures are lifted. By October, total mortality from coronavirus in the US could reach between 171,000 and 270,000, with a likely estimate of around 201,129. The number of daily deaths is expected to rise again in September after reaching a plateau in June.
