COVID assessment in Israel: What the government has decided

The Israeli government has decided to promote the use of home tests for coronavirus as of next week.

The decision was made following a situational assessment at a meeting convened on July 16 by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

It was also decided to prepare for increased application of the “happy standard” plan for weddings and other events, which will take effect on Wednesday.

During the talks, Bennett warned that the coronavirus vaccine may be less effective against the Delta strain, which was first identified in India.
