Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives have secured support for a resolution to impeach incumbent President Donald Trump. It is reported by Politico, citing sources in the U.S. Congress.
According to the American edition, 218 congressmen will support the resolution in the lower house of parliament. This should be enough for it to be passed by a majority of the House of Representatives.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the resolution will be voted on unless Trump resigns or Vice President Mike Pence terminates his tenure as head of state. For his part, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said congressmen could approve the resolution as early as Wednesday.
On January 11, the House of Representatives released a resolution to impeach current President Donald Trump. The politician is accused of sedition and of “seriously endangering the security of the United States and government institutions.” According to members of the House of Representatives, Trump remains a threat to national security and democracy and should be removed from office because of this.
