Dodger Stadium, which is one of the largest COVID-19 testing centers in the United States, will be turned into a place where up to 12,000 people a day can be vaccinated.
The city of Los Angeles is turning the stadium into a mass vaccination center as early as this week. City officials have decided to move the testing and use the stadium for the more pressing purpose of distributing the staff, equipment and other resources needed for mass vaccinations.
Although the shift will reduce testing opportunities in Los Angeles County, officials believe it will more than triple the number of daily vaccinations. “Vaccines are the surest way to defeat this virus, so the city, the county and our entire team are working hard to vaccinate the area as quickly, safely and effectively as possible,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.
