Good news for fans of the “Downton Abbey” series! The entire cast will return to their roles in the second feature film.
The story of the Crawley family appeared ten years ago, managed to be beloved by the audience and gather a lot of prestigious awards, among which are Emmy and BAFTA. And the first feature film was released in 2019, but received mixed reviews from critics. Many felt that the story would have been better left in the format of the series, and The Guardian even called the film “hilarious vanilla hilarity. However, that didn’t stop the story from continuing.
The other day the showrunners posted on the series’ website: “We’re very pleased to announce that Julian Fellowes and the entire cast are back in Downton Abbey 2 and will be joined by Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Natalie Bye and Dominic West! Watch the movie in theaters this Christmas.” The film is expected to be released as early as December 22, 2021.
