Dozens of U.S. Marines get Okinawa coronavirus

According to U.S. Air Force officials, marines at two US military bases in Japan are infected with COVID-19.

The Okinawa-based Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) on Saturday posted an outbreak report on Twitter that details measures taken to limit the spread of the disease.

“In light of the recent increase in positive cases of COVID-19 in Okinawa, Japanese naval forces have taken additional measures to limit the spread of coronavirus. These measures have been introduced to protect employees, families and local communities, ”the statement said. Restrictions include a ban on leaving the base, visiting public places and public transport.

The exact number of sick soldiers has not been disclosed; several dozen infected are known.
