The Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights issued a statement in response to reports of the Russian opposition leader’s deteriorating health.
Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatovic on Monday issued a statement on the reports of Alexei Navalny’s deteriorating state of health.
“Once again, I call on the Russian authorities to release Alexei Navalny and to immediately grant him full access to medical care in light of the serious deterioration of his health,” the statement said.
The ECHR (European Court of Human Rights – G.A.) has found his sentence arbitrary and unfounded, Navalny should be released,” stressed Mijatovic.
Earlier on Monday, Radio Liberty (FSIN) reported with reference to the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service that Navalny, who continues his hunger strike in penal colony #2 in the town of Pokrov, has been transferred to a hospital.
The hospital is located on the territory of another penal colony, IK-3 in Vladimir.
