Electoral votes confirm Biden's victory in U.S. presidential election

U.S. presidential candidate Joe Biden won more than 270 electoral votes. This number is enough for him to become president, reports CNN.

In all the states where Donald Trump, the current head of the White House, challenged the victory of Biden, the electors confirmed the victory of the Democrat. All 55 electors from California voted for Biden.

According to the latest results, 302 of the 538 votes were given to Biden and 232 votes were in favor of Trump. Thus, the candidate of the Democratic Party has collected more than 270 votes necessary to be elected president of the United States.

The results of the electoral vote must be approved by the Senate and House of Representatives on January 6. The next U.S. president will take office on January 20.
