The main feature of asymptomatic carriers of coronavirus infection is their high infectivity, said Zhong Nanshan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Sciences, leading epidemiologist of China.
Nanshan reported that asymptomatic COVID-19 patients account for 20-40 percent of the total. “Their main feature is their relatively high infectivity,” the expert emphasized. He added that this phenomenon requires utmost attention.
According to the epidemiologist, in the case of a cluster infection, the source of which is unknown, mass testing should be carried out for everyone living in the area.
Earlier, associate professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases in Children at the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, infectious disease doctor Ivan Konovalov said that older and adolescent children are becoming the main spread of coronavirus. According to him, they, like young people, are most often asymptomatic, but they release enough virus to infect others.
