Ever Given trial postponed for negotiation of parties

A court in Egypt has postponed the case of the freighter Ever Given, which blocked the Suez Canal for almost a week, resulting in huge financial losses.

Suez Canal officials and the ship’s owners are to use the break to settle a financial dispute, which concerns the amount of compensation for the salvage of the ship that ran aground.

The compensation should cover the cost of the salvage operation, the shutdown of the Suez Canal and the losses for transit.

Initially, the Suez Canal Authority demanded almost $ 1 billion, but the amount was reduced to 550 million.
