Facebook and Twitter remove Trump posts on coronavirus

Facebook and Twitter have deleted a post in which US President Donald Trump claims COVID-19 is “less deadly” than the flu.

Trump remains in the White House after three days of hospital treatment after testing positive for the coronavirus. He wrote that the US “has learned to live with the flu season, and so we are learning to live with the coronavirus in most populations.” “COVID-19 is much less deadly,” Trump said.

Twitter covered up the same warning message about “spreading misleading and potentially dangerous information.” “We have removed incorrect information about the severity of COVID-19 and deleted this post,” said Andy Stone, Policy Communications Manager at Facebook.

The exact death rate from the coronavirus is unknown, but it is believed to be significantly higher – perhaps 10 times or more – than most strains of influenza, according to Johns Hopkins University.
